Dear All,
We are pleased to announce the recruitment of one Afghan female student to represent the Afghan Female Debate Team as a Student Ambassador for ISDI, a joint initiative between the Harvard Debate Council and the University of Kentucky’s Tournament of Champions (TOC), for the 2026–2027 term, as outlined below.
As a Student Ambassador, you will have the opportunity to:
– Monthly online ambassador meetings with peers from around the world as well as leading speech & debate experts including esteemed college coaches.
– Leadership development workshops led by experienced educators and champions
– Community-building activities to strengthen team identity and regional outreach
– An in-person summer leadership event at Harvard University, featuring collaborative labs, strategy summits, and cultural exchange.
Student Ambassadors are expected to:
– Serve as liaisons between their local team and the ISDI
– Promote speech & debate at their school through outreach, recruitment, and mentorship
– Lead by example in behavior, preparation, and advocacy
– Contribute to global conversations about access, equity, and growth in debate and speech
– Participate actively in online meetings, workshops, and planning sessions
– Ambassadors may also help organize events, assist with regional programming, and present at clinics or summits.
In addition, the Student Ambassador representing the Afghan Female Debate Team is required to:
– Connect Afghan female students who are interested in debate
– Work with the support of Empowering Afghan Girls & Young Women through debate and Afghans for Progressive Thinking (APT) to operate the Afghan Female Debate Club

We will select one Afghan female student who is currently enrolled in Grade 10 or Grade 11 and is well-suited for this role.
In January 2026, we successfully nominated Tamana Wahidi as an ISDI Student Ambassador representing the Afghan Female Debate Team. She is an Afghan female debater, whose team won the first round at the Harvard Debate UK-TOC International Tournament. Learn more: https://lnkd.in/gXCzBsEW
